When it comes to laundering your apparel, you will find work wear jackets are not too difficult to launder. Whether you are washing, drying, pressing, or a combination of all of the above, you will find that it is easy to get the look and feel you want from your preferred work wear jackets. Properly laundering will insure you get more life out of your purchase, and you will discover your purchase will look even better.
Whatever you are choosing to launder, you will discover it is nice to have some useful tips. Below, you will discover a few of those tips great for getting more from each purchase.
Fleece or Microfleece
Fleece or microfleece is a wonderful fabric for work wear jackets. The softness, the comfort, and the warmth are all wonderful benefits to have. When laundering fleece or microfleece, you should wash in cool or warm water. For drying, air drying is best, but it is ok in an emergency to dry on a cool setting to speed the process. Fleece is extremely heat sensitive! If you have anti-pill fabric, you will most likely want to turn the jacket inside out before laundering to reduce the unattractive pilling effect.
When laundering or ironing, remember how sensitive to heat this fabric is. You will get a longer life out of your fabric by laundering in cool or warm settings.
Denim
Denim work wear jackets are popular and durable. You will enjoy these tips. First, always wash your denim at a warm temperature and dry on low. You will find that air drying is great too. Do you have an old, faded pair of jeans you want to give new life? You can put your new denim outerwear in with the jeans to give new color and life to your jeans.
If you want to keep your jacket the original color wash in cold water and use the shortest cycle, never use a bleaching product, and add a couple teaspoons of vinegar.
If you want to fade your new piece of outerwear, you would wash the denim jacket in warm water and dry at medium heat. Go ahead a use a longer wash cycle, but do not use bleach.
Have loose strings on your denim outerwear? Never use a lighter. Yes, it is convenient for many, but it is bad practice and can weaken the seams. Instead, try to use a small pair of clippers to get the desired results.
Nylon
When it comes to laundering jackets, nylon materials are one of the easiest to launder. Simply use warm water and a water temperature for the dryer. Add fabric softener to the wash, and be sure to add a dryer sheet for the dryer. Static electricity can be a serious issue when it comes to nylon. Nylon does wrinkly easily, and should be removed from the dryer as soon as the cycle ends to insure less wrinkles.
From experience, you should also insure your iron is not too hot if you choose to iron nylon. An even better idea for ironing or pressing nylon is to place a towel between the iron and the nylon outerwear.
