As children we all looked forward to that magical time when it would be soon be time for thatjolly old man in the long, white beard who precariously somehow land flying reindeer on the roof of our homes to bring us toys that we have wanted for months prior.The Holiday Season is a time for families and friends to gather to share eggnog and wishes for a better year yet to come. Although the Holiday Season can be stressful to some, the vast majority of parents take pride and solitude to give thanks for the family that we can share these times with.The holiday season is a time for the wearing of the traditional holiday apparel, symbolizing the up-coming season, a season full of joy, laughter and larger credit card balances.
Standard holiday apparel for women in the Northern plains where temperatures fall well below zero and the snow accumulates to feet instead of inches, warm sweaters are worn, each decorated with scenery from a winter wonderland of snowflakes and snowmen, children sliding down a long snowy slope that never seemed to have an ending.In the warmer climates of the Southwestern States andareas of the deep south, where the temperature rarely falls below 40 degrees, the warm sweaters of the Northern plains seems inappropriate and amusing.Still, adequate clothing reflecting the up-coming season is still worn but not to the extent of their northern neighbors.
Children alike are adorned with holiday apparel with small hats and mittens secured to their thick lined coats to prevent misplacing. Even man’s best friend can be furnished with coats, slippers and various holiday ornaments which are quickly removed and torn apart piece by piece. These pampered pets are somewhat confused by all the chaos that is abundant throughout the household but still are willing to sacrifice a brief moment of embarrassment for the sake of his or her loving family while running wildly throughout the home dragging what used to be the ideal set of toy reindeer antlers, now left hanging limp and shattered by playful rage.
Men are somewhat un-amused by the hours of shopping for that special gift that seems to be sold out of every store that he has entered for the last few days. Casual dress is the attire for this weary shopper who, but for the sake and love of his family trudges on. Holiday apparel is not a concern at this time but the looming fact of increased credit card balances weighs heavily on his mind.
Holiday apparel brings life and excitement to the holidays.Without the appropriate holiday attire there would be no holiday spirit, no reason to wait outside a department store door at 1AM, waiting to be the first in line to purchase the hottest and most popular toy of the season.
