Silk thread, cotton thread, nylon thread, and other types of thread will be perfect if the pants you wear match the thread type. Silk thread is generally going to offer finer detail and feel nice on the garment in question, but silk is also more delicate and will not last as long as, say, cotton thread.
Thread color is going to be an option. When you are going to have a great personalization, you will want to insure the colors of the thread contrast the color of the garment in most cases. Sometimes, white on white is great if you use contrasting finishes for the thread, but generally speaking, the thread color will be more noticed when it contrasts the color of the garment.
Font size is going to be an option. Obviously, some font sizes will need to be specifically set for the garment. If the font size is too small, the customization will not be appreciated; if the font size is too large, the customization will swallow the garment and look tacky.
Font type is going to be an option. If you choose to have wording or even design on your garment, you will want to insure that the design is just the right size. What you see on the picture may not be the same sized you envisioned. This is going to rely a lot on the font size as well.
