Types of Custom Garments

There are many types of custom garments made today are specially designed to fit any occasion. Many cultures create custom garments for weddings, bar mitzvahs, and other major life events. Custom garments can be created from a simple pattern that is then embellished with handcrafted designs or bead work. These garments are generally very heavy and cannot be worn on a regular basis.

In some cases, custom garments are only worn one time, for one occasion. They embody the feelings of the entire event at which they are worn and are often saved and passed down through families as heirlooms.

Wedding dresses are custom garments often created in the United States. These gowns are made from satin and/or silk and are complex in their detailing. Some of these custom garments have beadwork and crystal designs that cover the entire bodice of the gown and then trail in a scroll pattern through the rest of the custom garments billowing skirt.

Wedding dresses vary in price based on the type of fabric that is used in their creation and the amount of hand sewing that must be done to complete the gown. In most cases the hand sewn detailing of the gown will take six to eight weeks to complete after a gown has been selected.

Other custom garments that has grown in popularity in the last few years is the school uniform. At one time school uniforms were very basic and had a simple design. Now, however these custom garments are created after a rigorous design process and are made to fit in with current fashion trends while still conveying the morals and values of the school they represent.

School uniforms are generally created using a fabric that will withstand the daily wear of an active student and they are designed to allow for growth of the student during the school year. These custom garments usually include an entire ensemble of shirt or blouse, skirt or pants, sports pants, and accessories. Each piece of the uniform compliments and enhances the rest of the uniform.
